I’m Kerry Rae, an ADHD-informed counsellor based in Edinburgh and online.
I am a fully qualified counsellor holding an Advanced Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling.
My qualification is in Integrative Counselling which, although anchored in the person-centred approach, draws on a range of therapeutic approaches so that sessions can be tailored to your individual needs supporting both the emotional and practical challenges that can come with living with a busy, overthinking mind.
I’m often described as calm and grounded, and my approach is centred on compassion – for the work, and for yourself. I recognise that many of the people I work with are naturally very hard on themselves, and that learning to see yourself in a gentler way can feel surprisingly difficult.
I also hold a holistic view of wellbeing and often clients like to have a better understanding of how their sleep, movement, social connection or hormone balance can affect their energy, capacity levels and overall mood. Having space to talk about the bigger picture, not just the presenting problem, can be part of understanding yourself better.

My Counselling Experience
Since my own late diagnosis of ADHD, I’ve come to understand myself in a way I hadn’t before and that journey of learning to give myself some grace has been an important part of my own story.
I know what it’s like to have spent years being your own harshest critic – constantly worrying about getting things wrong, feeling like you’re too much or never quite enough. Learning to see yourself differently and with a little more kindness is exactly what we work on together.
