Hi, welcome to my website and my Reflections page. Let me tell you a little bit about how I work and what you can expect to find on this section of the website.

Counselling

I work one-to-one with clients as a counsellor. I would describe myself as a relatable therapist in that I won’t use any jargon or confusing language but rather that I consider the relationship between counsellor and client to be one of a partnership and collaboration. I am not there to tell anyone what to do or to judge. The counselling space is a very individual one, there is no one-size-fits all approach or expectations about how the client will progress. So, what am I there for?

  • I am there to deeply listen, to show empathy and compassion.
  • I am there to honour the client’s story.
  • I am there to ask considered questions to help the client explore how they feel and to gently challenge some thoughts to encourage greater reflection and awareness.
  • I am there to hold space for the client – for the tears, the moments of silence, the venting, the laughter, the wins, and the ah-ha moments.

Reflections

I love writing thought pieces which centre around some themes that come up in counselling and personal development such as self-love, boundaries, or managing stress and anxiety. Some thoughts may resonate with you, you may gain some tips, some knowledge or maybe just feel that something has spoken to you and given you a fresh perspective. I also talk about the key link between our emotions and our holistic wellbeing – let me explain….

Emotions and Holistic Wellbeing

We are all in this human experience together and will all experience times of joy, times of difficulty, times of loss, transition, or times when we doubt ourselves. Many of these times will be outside our control and instead we need to find ways to support ourselves and learn to gain a level of acceptance to allow us to move forward.

Equally, there are elements that are inside our control such as sleep, nutrition, lifestyle, and social connection which can and do affect our mood, energy, motivation, and our ability to function well in our life and relationships. Emotions are undoubtedly affected by what we consume – what we eat, drink, watch, read, buy or who we spend our time with.
Our modern, busy lives can drown out what our inner wisdom, our intuition, wants to remind us. So, you will also find written reflections here from me which have a more holistic feel – about slowing down, rest, simplifying, connection, getting into nature, gratitude practice and nourishing our body with nutritious food and drink.
